I don't know if you have seen but under my class (Alden)--> Student-->> Kids make power points---> Planets---> I have updated some great power points the kids have created. I will be updating them more as I finish grading them. They did them in pairs and completed all research on the net. They really turned out great!
Take a look...they are a great teaching tool to our kids and kids all over the country. There are pictures of the planets and a lot of information about them. They are animated & have slide transitions.
In addition, I have created some "experts" up here and would love to let them go to 3rd grade. They can help tutor or enhance a lesson. They can come down and take a student or 2 aside and show them how to create their own.
Thay are working on African-American Bio's. These are the people we do not hear too much about like Daniel Hale Williams & greats like Chubby Checker. These will be great as the kids are doing them individually and showing me "what they know".
They will then move on to auto-biography which Brook is working in conjunction with me on.  Lastly, I would love to give them some extra credit assignments.....
Here's what I need...
Any lessons you do through out the year that you think would be great on a power point. My kids can make them and we can keep them in the archives for years to come...think about it and let me know!

For the next few days, the students are using the digital camera. I have a days lesson on parts of the camera and send them to take pictures of various items. They are enjoying this part and we will transferr it to their power points later.

I apologize for my lack of journaling. The kids are constantly on the computers and I have given mine up for them. They are coming along in their power points for African-Americans. Alot of this project includes critical thinking about being famous and evaluating themselves. Their personal pictures look awesome.

The digital cameras, however, do not seem hardy for the students. I have my own digital that I, myself, have dropped and banged into doors. It works fine. The students have been careful but minor bumps seem to malfunction the camera. These power point because of the pictures may not all be posted here on the net because I do not have all internet forms signed. That will be my push for the next few weeks, trying to encourage parents to signed them.

I also went to a Conference at Stockton on Monday. It was awesome!! I learned about taking virtual tours and how to actually create them. IDEA!!! Let's have the students create virtual tours about our school and places in Atlantic City like the Lighthouse, Ocean Life Center, Lucy the Elephant, and the Marshes! Wouldn't that be fabulous?

5/19/04 Well, the kids will be done their power points on African-Americans no later than Friday. We just simply must move on. I have had some problems with my computers. My printer and 2 computers are completely not working ( one keeps trying to check clusters & the other still has no internet) . Ms. Castaldi is finishing their personal biographies this week. We will take 1 week off and then move into our last power point. It's their personal reflection about themselves. I will be giving them a technology test this Friday. It's a written exam and I will link it to this page. Well, take care!
