Language Arts Standards and Technology is an excellent series of suggestions from the San Diego School District on how to make the technology connection between Language Arts standards and technology.  It covers both reading and writing standards.

Literacy Circles encourages active reading through Book - Technology connections.  This is one small part of Eduscapes, an award winning web site  created by authors Annette Lamb and Larry Johnson.

Reading Lesson Plans from the Northwest Regional Education Lab.  Site has excellent resources  for assessment including scoring guides.  That might be able to be adopted  for use on the Palm with Word or Excel.

International Children's Digital Library - It is a 5-year research project that uses children 7-11 as a major part of the  design of the interface.  It currently contains the full text of 262  children's books from around the world. There are two interfaces.  The Basic interface is usable by most people.  Then  Enhanced interface recommends 256 meg memory, 1 mHz processor or  better and a broadband connection. 

Between the Lions - Web site of the PBS Emmy award winning TV series.  The site can be used even if  you don't see the shows.  The new season begins Sept. 15, 2003.

Aesop's Fables - Contains  all 655 fables

PBS TeacherSource: Arts and  Literature   
PBS TeacherSource provides searchable access to the various lesson plans, teaching resources, and student activities on the PBS website. The  collection can by sorted by grade level and  curricular areas (books, reading skills, and so forth).  It includes
Swahili Folktale where you help the characters of a Swahili folktale by listening to their story and making decisions about what happens next. Needs Real Audio.

StoryPlace: The Children's Digital Library   
This award-winning bilingual (Spanish and English) site, sponsored by  the Public Library of Charlotte & Mecklenburg County, includes a collection  of online materials for elementary students including texts and activities.

Learningpage.com has printable stories  and activity sheets.  Of more interest to me is the Clipart section that can be used in stories.

Alfy's Brain Train  has students have to drag pictures of objects to boxes that contain the word.  Storyville offers nine interactive stories for students to listen to, follow along with, and partake in.  Students can also express creativity through creating, coloring, painting, and music  activities.
