GEM: Gateway to Educational Materials is a project of the U.S. Department of Education, is a consortium of over 400 education institutions, from schools to professional associations, providing access to Internet-based educational materials.
PBS TeacherSource: Arts and Literature provides searchable access to the various lesson plans, teaching resources, and student activities on the PBS website. The collection can by sorted by grade level and curricular areas (books, reading skills, and so forth). It includes Swahili Folktale where you help the characters of a Swahili folktale by listening to their story and making decisions about what happens next. Needs Real Audio.

Kids Hub is a noncommercial educational portal for upper elementary school and middle school students. It includes free online interactive learning games, puzzles, and quizzes for language arts, math, science, social studies, and four foreign languages.
Spreadsheet Activities
This will download an Excel worksheet that contains examples and ideas for spreadsheet activities across the curriculum. It was designed to be used as part of a Star-W workshop. For this reason, some of the material may seem incomplete, however much of it will be useful even without the workshop.
