Deborah Fleming

Deborah Fleming has been a fourth grade teacher at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. School Complex in Atlantic City for the pass eleven years.   She received her Bachelors degree from West Chester University and her Masters in Reading and Literacy from Walden University .   In addition to teaching fourth grade she also tutors students from the Atlantic City community.   As a mother of a daughter who is an honor student, she understands the importance of being able to read well.   She is currently involved in a library program in which she reads to students ages 5-9 and encourages them to read to succeed.

Deborah is involved in volunteer work in the city.   She enjoys teaching Sunday school at her church.   She also takes pleasure in mentoring at-risk girls who are members of a group called the “Sister to Sister Club”.   It is her belief that giving back to the youth provides a better future for all of us.   She also heads the school Spelling Bee and volunteers her time in the annual talent show.

“The Star W grant has allowed me to increase my knowledge of the computer and to pass that knowledge on to my students. This grant has provided me with an excellent tool to enhance the skills that are needed for my students to succeed in their future endeavors.”
