Fleming

Deborah
Fleming has been a fourth grade teacher at the Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr. School Complex in Atlantic City for the pass eleven years.
She received her Bachelors degree from West
Chester University
and her Masters in Reading
and Literacy from Walden University
. In addition to teaching fourth grade
she also tutors students from the Atlantic
City community. As a mother of a daughter
who is an honor student, she understands the importance of being
able to read well. She is currently involved in a library
program in which she reads to students ages 5-9 and encourages them
to read to succeed.
Deborah
is involved in volunteer work in the city. She enjoys teaching
Sunday school at her church. She also takes pleasure in mentoring
at-risk girls who are members of a group called the “Sister to Sister
Club”. It is her belief that giving back to the youth provides
a better future for all of us. She also heads the school
Spelling Bee and volunteers her time in the annual talent show.

Star W grant has allowed me to increase my knowledge of the computer
and to pass that knowledge on to my students. This grant has provided
me with an excellent tool to enhance the skills that are needed
for my students to succeed in their future endeavors.”
