Today
we completed data graphs on the computer. |

Today I attended a workshop at MLK, on how to create Virtual
Tours. This information will be extremely useful in completing
our Star-W summer project. It was interesting to see how
the students at LEH created their virtual tours of the Tucahoe
Seaport. During one of the workshop breaks I was able to link
some activities from Math Trails to my web page. I plan to have
my students work on these activities for enrichment when they
finish their classwork. The link that I found most exciting
is Lunchtime Math. |

Today we learned about the Big 6,
a process model of how people of all ages solve an information
problem. We all found that we basically use a similar
model for problem solving but using the Big 6 will give us
a more uniform model for teaching our students how to problem
solve. I feel that this process will be a valuable tool for
my students to use while trying to improve their problem solving
skills. |

Today we used Contribute to create
more web pages. On those web pages we created many activities
for our students to work on for the upcoming year. Most
of these activities mirror the Ask4 test. |

WOW! Today we used Web
-and-Flow to create a web quest. This is a great instrument
to
use to create a
web quest. It was so easy to use and it really lends
a professional look to your web quest. |

Today we evaluated web sites to use in our Bullying project.
There are so many kid friendly sites that we will be able to
use in our projects. We had an exciting start today.
It is going to take a lot of organization to get us to our end
project. So far we are off to a great start! |

Today we reviewed the Kita Ka ha packet on bullying.
We completed the questionnaire which helped us to examine how
we as teachers handle bullies. We also developed a questionnaire
for our students to help them to examine what a bully is and
whether or not they are bullies. We created a word search
for vocabulary used in bullying situations. We had the
most fun when we created an imovie which featured a bullying
scenario. In this imovie some students are being bullied
in the library. We decided to stop after important events
in the movie so that our students would be able to use their
Dana's to journal throughout the movie as to how they would
solve the problems presented in the movie. |

Today we developed our kick-off for our Bullies to Buddies
project. Our group wrote the agenda for our kick-off.
We wrote a rap that will be done by the teachers. We also
created a flyer to send home with our students so that we can
invite their parents to come. We decided the the STAR-W |

Today we learned
how to use our Alpha Smarts.
This is an exciting
tool that we will be using with our students. Each student
will be able to use their own alpha smart and journal at their
desk. There are many uses for this tool but the most
important use is that our students will be writing more.
We also made another imovie about being bullied in school. |
| 7/15/04 |
Today we learned how to use HyperStudio. This is a great
application for our students to use when they create powerpoint
presentations. HyperStudio is kid friendly so it will be easy
for our students to use. We also edited our second video
skit on Bullying. This video will be used as a writing
prompt for our students. We are accomplishing great things. |
| 7/16/04 |
Today we used the books that Marilyn ordered for us to create
writing prompts. I read the story to my colleagues and
we brainstormed ideas for our writing prompts. We were
able to create really interesting writing prompts for our bullying
projects. It was fun bouncing ideas off of one another.
We also took the LotiLounge questionnaire. I was very
surprised at how my score improved. More than just the
score I am very surprised at how my thinking about technology
has improved. Now when I think about creating lessons for my
students I immediately think about how I can incorporate technology,
thanks to our Star-W grant! |

Today is our last
day of computer training it has been a great time of learning
for us. We have created so many activities for our students.
I have always wanted to achieve this goal of incorporating
technology into our curriculum. Today we created more
writing activites. I created an activity for Black History
month. I am very excited about this upcoming school
year. It is going to be so interesting getting our Bullying
project started. I can't wait to see how the violence
in our school decreases as we institute this program at MLK.
I know that this program will not only make a difference in
our school but in our community. |

Today we learned how to use the iBook. We learned how to create
and edit iMovies. This will be a great tool to use with
our students. We also learned how to burn CD's.
This was a great workshop. I am so glad I attended. |

"Wow?"
Now that the state test is over I feel that I can have my
student do what they love, which is work on the computer.
My students are now working on the bullying projects that
we
created this summer.
Today we learned how to operate Kar2ouche. This I'm
sure will prove to be a very valuable learning tool for our
students. Our students will be able to create cartoon stories.Tom
Snyder's Reading for a Meaning is an awesome teaching tool
that will enable our students to have rewarding reading and
learning experiences.
